About Dance Arches
Dancers have been trying to increase the height of their insteps for decades by using cotton wool and plaster. Some have even resorted to collagen injections and surgery in an attempt to have better looking feet and in fact some of the greatest ballerinas in history, were known to have gone to lengths to improve the height of their insteps to create visually the most beautiful lines they could.
The idea of Dance Arches was conceived by an ex professional ballerina who had a string of amateur and professional achievements including, winning the most prestigious ballet scholarship in the Southern Hemisphere and then at the age of 16 was offered a professional contract with a Ballet Company in London performing soloist roles in numerous ballets.
It was in the company of other professionals and with encouragement from the Artistic Director to use instep enhancement that it was realized how much something like Dance Arches was needed. With the assistance of a prosthetics technician who had vast experience in creating prosthetics for theatre, film and dance, Dance Arches became a reality.
While creating Dance Arches, the team, were pedantic about the shape of the prosthetic and went to great effort to create a technically perfect looking prosthetic from all angles. What was discovered was that dancers wanted a natural look and this is what was achieved, a natural look that is comfortable to wear.
Dance Arches was conceived and designed with integrity and a strong desire to help dancers look their best and fulfill their dreams. They are not a substitute for hard work, however they do help improve the line of the leg and foot and we have also been told that they are preventing injuries from attempts to force feet beyond their natural limit.
Thank you to all the Professional dancers, Artistic Directors, students and teachers who have given such valued feedback. Also, a special thank you to Marie Walton-Mahon, ( ARAD, Solo Seal, International RAD Examiner and Principal of the National College of Dance) for supporting and endorsing Dance Arches.
"I just love Dance Arches!!! They make me feel confident and secure."
